[NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE, February 20] Slim & Husky’s and Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) have partnered to provide pizza and cinnamon rolls to MNPS bus drivers at the restaurant’s Antioch location on February 20 at 11 a.m.

MNPS connected with the Slim & Husky’s co-founders, E.J. Reed, Derrick Moore, and Clint Gray, following the bad weather days bus drivers experienced last month.

“We appreciate the hard work Dr. Shawn Joseph is doing for our school system,” Slim & Husky’s co-founder, Gray, said.

With around 500 drivers covering 500 routes and transporting approximately 40,000 public school students, inclement weather, particularly when unexpected, throws a wrench into the daily routine.

“We truly appreciate our bus drivers and this is just one small way to show that appreciation,” said MNPS Director of Schools Dr. Shawn Joseph. “Our drivers step up in tremendous ways to transport students to and from school safely every day while managing factors such as weather, traffic and student behavior. We thank Slim & Husky’s for being a strong and supportive community partner and helping us to recognize employees in our district doing meaningful work.”

MNPS bus drivers enjoyed Slim & Husky’s signature pizzas along with an assortment of their unique cinnamon roll flavors during a surprise free lunch.

“We embrace opportunities to give back to our city’s public education system,” Gray said. “It is our primary community initiative.”

Slim & Husky’s is a fast casual and gourmet pizza joint serving up artisan pies and unique cinnamon rolls made with locally sourced ingredients. It offers build-your-own pizzas, meeting and event catering, take out services, and delivery through third-party vendors.
